Artist Statement

“Whenever you notice the voice, you will also realize that you are not the voice, but the one who is aware of it.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

My inner voice has been my mother, father, friend, and enemy. At times, it has complete control over my spiritual and physical self. This inner voice filters my perception of the world, acting as an auditory veil of illusion. Muting our physical senses, this constant auditory feedback disconnects us from our authentic selves, each other and our planet.

This installation creates a space for awareness by engaging the viewer's senses. Through awareness, a crack is formed, expanding ever so slightly each time it is exposed. With time, it becomes an opening that leads to a stillness. It is in this state that we can be free from mental chaos and fully connected to the present moment.
